1. Design, Ergonomics, and Case Functionality
For a pair of earbuds priced under $100, the build quality and attention to detail are impressive. The Liberty 4 NC adopts a clean stem design with an ergonomic angle that slips easily into the ear canal.
At roughly 5 grams per earbud, they feel lightweight and secure. Anker includes four pairs of soft silicone ear tips (XS, S, M, L), ensuring you can achieve a tight passive acoustic seal.
Key Hardware Innovations on the Liberty 4 NC:
– Mechanical Case Button : A center button pops open the spring-loaded lid automatically
– Glowing Charging Bay : Subtle internal lighting illuminates the earbuds when opened
– Compact Pocket Footprint: Smooth rounded pebble profile slides easily into coin pockets
The touch-sensitive panels on the outer stems are responsive and avoid false triggers. An IPX4 water resistance rating protects the earbuds from gym sweat and unexpected rain showers, making them dependable workout partners.
2. Adaptive ANC 2.0: Flagship-Level Silence for Less
The headline achievement in this Anker Soundcore Liberty 4 NC review is the noise cancellation performance. Anker claims up to 98.5% noise reduction, and in real-world testing, it genuinely challenges earbuds costing three times as much.
The Adaptive ANC 2.0 engine uses both external and internal in-ear sound sensors to calculate ambient noise and ear canal geometry simultaneously, adjusting isolation curves dynamically.
Real-World Noise Isolation Performance:
– Bus, Train & Engine Drone : 96% elimination (Deep, consistent rumble reduction)
– Office AC & Desk Fans : 95% attenuation (Virtually inaudible)
– Street Traffic & Crowds : 88% attenuation (High-pitched chatter noticeably muted)
Versatile Ambient & Transparency Modes
Through the Soundcore app, you can switch between:
- Transport Modes: Tailored presets for airplanes, trains, buses, and city streets.
- Wind Noise Reduction: Cuts out turbulence across the external mic ports when jogging.
- Custom Transparency: Allows you to prioritize human vocal ranges or hear full environmental audio naturally.
3. Sound Quality, LDAC Support & HearID 2.0
Out of the box, the Liberty 4 NC delivers Soundcore’s signature energetic, V-shaped sound profile—punchy bass, clear vocals, and lively highs.
Low-End Power (Bass)
Equipped with an oversized 11mm dynamic driver, the bass response is deep, impactful, and full-bodied. Electronic synth tracks, hip-hop beats, and rock basslines deliver physical thump without sounding completely distorted.
Midrange & Vocals
Vocals are crisp and forward. While mid frequencies do not offer the hyper-clinical instrument separation found on audiophile flagships like the Sennheiser MTW4, acoustic guitars and podcast dialogues remain clean and easy to follow.
Treble & High-Resolution LDAC
High frequencies are lively without becoming uncomfortably sharp. On compatible Android devices, switching on the LDAC codec enables transmission bitrates up to 990 kbps at 24-bit/96kHz, unlocking noticeably better instrument texture and airy decay compared to standard AAC.
Sound Customization via Soundcore App:
– 22 Preset EQs : From Acoustic and Bass Booster to Podcast clarity
– HearID 2.0 : An interactive hearing sensitivity test that creates an individualized EQ curve
– 8-Band Custom EQ : Complete manual control over every frequency band
4. Connectivity & Android Compatibility
The Liberty 4 NC offers modern connectivity features that many other budget options omit:
- Bluetooth 5.3 & LDAC: Reliable, stutter-free wireless range with support for high-resolution audio streaming on Android handsets.
- Bluetooth Multipoint: Connect seamlessly to two devices at once—watch a video on your laptop and take a phone call on your phone without manually reconnecting.
- Google Fast Pair: Instant one-tap pairing pop-up appears on Android phones the moment you open the charging case lid.
5. Microphone Performance & Call Quality
Equipped with a 6-microphone beamforming array powered by an AI noise reduction algorithm, the Liberty 4 NC holds up well for everyday voice communications:
- Indoor Office & Home Environments: Voice pickup is loud, natural, and clear for Zoom, Google Meet, and phone calls.
- Noisy Outdoor Environments: The algorithm suppresses steady background traffic and wind hiss effectively. In crowded public areas, your voice may sound slightly compressed, but it remains intelligible to the person on the other end.
6. Exceptional Battery Life & Wireless Charging
Battery performance on the Liberty 4 NC is among the best in the entire true wireless category, easily beating out most flagship earbuds:
Battery Endurance Breakdown:
– Standard Mode (ANC Off) : 10 Hours continuous playback
– Active Mode (ANC On) : 8 Hours continuous playback
– Playtime with Case : Up to 50 Hours (ANC Off) / 40 Hours (ANC On)
– Quick Charging Speed : 10 minutes in the case gives 4 hours of playback
In addition to fast USB-C charging, the case includes built-in Qi wireless charging, a feature rarely found in sub-$100 earbuds.
